Interactive Spectrogram Generator
A beautiful way to visualise sound
Back in the mid 2000s when people were still making cool shit for the sake of making cool shit, SoundCloud had a really neat circular spectrogram generator. I was obsessed with the patterns it would create and how different frequencies were represented within the spiral.
This is my humble attempt to recreate the effect with a little added fun. You can play the audio and drag the white line to scrub through it. Click the “random” checkbox and change the bpm to create new rhythmical patterns.
The downloadable PNG file is generated by capturing the browser window so you can save your spectrogram image at a good size for use in design projects. On my iMac it outputs at 3576x2140px.
